Mobilization: my journey from civilian to serviceman – June 20, 2024 Thursday, day fourteen

From yesterday to today, I was on duty at the checkpoint. From 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. This is my third time.

Also today, a man arrived at the base temporarily, and after talking to him, it was immediately clear where he had been before. It was obvious that he had spent a lot of time in prison. I didn’t talk to him much, but he was put up in our room, and during the day I heard him say the following (I’ve taken out all the swear words and slang): “I’m sick of all this, sick of doing nothing, sick of lying around and staring at the ceiling, I want to jump around somewhere, run around. You know what I mean, shovel, trench.“

For my part, I shared a little about how I was on guard duty at night. I told him the name of the person in charge of the guard post. To this, the man said, ”I don’t need you to tell me anyone’s names, soon people will start changing so quickly that you won’t remember them. I’d rather go somewhere else.” I got the feeling that this person didn’t value his own life or the lives of others. This was another example of the type of people in our army… Then it turned out that this person had hepatitis B, and Elisey and I had to wash all the dishes in the kitchen with bleach.
